Exploring our Roles is a session run by three settlers who are passionate about contributing to reconciliation and decolonization efforts. In the fall of 2020, we ran an English conversation club for newcomers to examine the topics of colonization, reconciliation, and systemic racism in Canada. We will share resources and stories from this experience.
Jenna is a highschool resource teacher in Richmond, and Toby teaches Woodwork and works in collaboration with Indigenous Education in Cowichan. Meekyoung was an elementary school teacher in Korea before coming here to study Education for Sustainability. We all share interests in arts education, sustainability, social justice, and standing in solidarity with Indigenous communities
